About Pelegasus Marine

Pelegesus Marine was founded with a clear purpose: to eliminate the persistent issues that plague traditional bow thruster systems - excessive noise, vibration, and frequent mechanical failures.

Conventional systems rely on propellers that are easily obstructed by debris, weeds, fishing lines, or marine growth. Under heavy strain - such as in strong winds or currents - these systems are prone to overheating and shutdown. Moreover, traditional electric motors draw significant power, leading to rapid battery drain and unreliable performance, especially during critical maneuvers.

Our founders combined real-world boating experience with advanced engineering to develop a cleaner, smarter, and safer way to maneuver your boat on the water.

Experience

The original founder is a highly experienced automation engineer and author with over 40 years experience in automation, complex systems design, industrial control, and software development. His impressive background includes work on high-profile projects such as the Green Bank Telescope, the Space Shuttle, and Black Hawk Helicopters. This unique combination of skills enabled him to design a smarter, more efficient system, engineering the components and developing the software needed to ensure seamless integration.

With decades of hands-on experience in building advanced systems, we are confident that his revolutionary, patented propulsion system will redefine the future of pontoon boating.

A Paradigm Shift in Marine Propulsion...

At Pelegasus Marine, we are revolutionizing boat propulsion with our patented dynamic axial thruster system, offering unparalleled maneuverability and control for boats while prioritizing environmental friendliness, and safety for swimmers, marine life & ecosystems.

At Pelegesus Marine, we're redefining marine propulsion.

Our patented Dynamic Axial Thruster System revolutionizes how pontoon boats move - enhancing control, safety, and environmental responsibility. Unlike traditional systems, our innovative design eliminates propellers and external moving parts, making it completely safe for swimmers, marine life, and sensitive ecosystems.

Primarily designed as a next-generation bow thruster, the system offers unmatched low-speed maneuverability. But it doesn’t stop there - our technology also enables full cruising functionality, allowing the vessel to travel at speeds of up to 10 knots with the basic system, all controlled effortlessly with an intuitive joystick interface.

Whether docking, cruising, or navigating tight spaces, Pelegesus delivers a level of precision and safety that sets a new standard in pontoon propulsion.

Thrusters - The Eco-Friendly Solution

According to the Coast Guard there’s an average of around 182 reported annual injuries and between 23-41 deaths annually due to propeller accidents. The Coast Guard also claims that only about 10% of non-fatal propeller injuries are reported, so the amount of injuries happening are far higher than statistical averages.

High-pressure water nozzles offer a safer alternative to traditional propellers, eliminating risks for swimmers and protecting marine life in shallow waters. Unlike propeller-driven engines, which can cause injury or harm to aquatic ecosystems, water-based thrusters provide clean, efficient propulsion, keeping people and wildlife safe while reducing environmental impact.

The Pelegasus Dynamic Axial Thruster System is a fully integrated, high-pressure water-based propulsion system that provides precise control and maneuverability for pontoon boats. Key features include:

  • Dual 360-Degree Nozzles: These nozzles provide thrust in any direction, enabling 360-degree maneuverability.

  • Self-Cleaning Design: The system uses filtered water, preventing debris buildup and ensuring consistent performance. In the unlikely event of a rock grounding, the only component that might need replacement is the nozzle. Although it is protected and shouldn’t get damaged, it’s designed for easy removal - simply unscrew it and replace it with a new one.

  • Stainless Steel Construction: Durable and corrosion-resistant, the system is built to withstand harsh marine environments, and the nozzles are set in a low profile stainless steel housing making it difficult to damage.

  • Safe Shallow-Water Operation: The system operates in as little as 12 inches of water, making it ideal for environmentally sensitive areas and is 100% safe to swimmers and marine life.
